In the book "To Kill a Mocking Bird" how does ....?

Well i read the book last year & i think it's when he did everything in his power to defend "the black" guy in trial..(i'm sorry i forgot his name lol)....but yeah i remember everyone in town was saying that he should go to jail,that he was not innocent etc...(mainly because of his color)...but even thru all that Attacus didn't agree with everybody else...he did what he as an individual felt was right to do.
