My dog has a tapeworm..could I have one too?

Which explains a lot of his eating and drinking patterns lately. We brought my mini poodle (who has diabetes) to the vet today and found out that he has a tapeworm! He'll be fine after he takes his pills but.. what about me? I was kissing him and had him all over my bed. I think the vet said that if I ingested one of the tapeworm eggs than I could get one too. Is there a high chance of that actually happening or is it pretty slim? I wonder how I would be tested for a tapeworm?
